Ectomorph or Vata, tend to be slight in their body contour. They don't seem to gain weight as easily and gain it in the middle first or all over when they do. (Hence, this body type being referred to as the apple or banana.) They require plenty of rest and proper food to function well, though they are light sleepers and often find themselves so busy that they can forget to eat at times. These folks are light as air, even though they always seem to have something on their minds. They need variety so switching between activities that keep them focused during their workout and leaves them feeling relaxed is an important aspect of their exercise regimen.
Mesomorph or Pitta are often described as medium build with the classic hour glass figure as their shoulder and hip with are just about the same wide while their waist remains smaller. They may even be considered a bit "top heavy". They can get away with less than 8 hours of sleep and usual rest easily. These fiery personalities tend to have good digestion systems, so don't get in their way when their stomachs start to growl. As for exercise, steady workouts that cool off and relax these spit-fires are best done consistently.
Endomorph or Kapha would be those more full-figured, voluptuous gals. They are often called pears shaped and may appear to be bottom heavy. These folks are slow and lackadaisical, so even though they are heavy sleepers they need the least amount of sleep of the three. They have an appetite for rich food and often find themselves eating out of craving (physical or emotional), rather than hunger. So to invigorate these easy-going types, fun energizing activities are ideal. Nothing too heavy or too slow for rooted girls, as their biggest challenge with exercise is remaining engaged.
If you saw yourself among more than one description, you may be a mix of types or more than likely you are experiencing an imbalance. A vata could gain a lot of weight and the kapha can suffer from insomnia. It really goes back to lifestyle and making adjustments that suit your needs and calling to bring yourself back into balance mind, body, and spirit.
